Alpaca Information
Welcome to One Fine Day Alpacas Online. Feel free to look
through the pages and contact us for information about this Seville,
Ohio Alpaca Farm. Below is a summary of how and why we started
raising these lovable creatures.

About the Farm: After searching for a viable business and lifestyle, we finally
moved our family to the country to enjoy what life had to offer. As our family grew
older, we leased and worked 300 (three-hundred) acres of land, purchased a
few tractors and other equipment, then came the cows - we were on our way! It
took exactly one season to find out that - that was not the way to go! Reality hit
us like a ton of bricks.

We became interested in Alpacas when we drove past a farm that was already
raising these fine crimpy creatures. Smitten with those quiet hummers,
we entered into the Alpaca lifestyle. Although we no longer have the cows, we
still lease the same acreage. We built a three-sided lean-to on our nine acre
farm and catch ourselves staring out the window towards the pasture several
times a day. We attend alpaca shows and seminars regularly to meet a lot of
wonderful people along the way in which we have much in common.

At first, as a small farm our hope was to reduce our tax rate, sell as many
alpacas as we could and to turn a profit. We soon realized that we fell for these
friendly camelids and have lots of love for all. We still do tilling and gathering,
now with enjoyment.

So you ask how do I become part of the alpaca industry?

The first step of getting started is to make that initial purchase. Many new alpaca
farmers buy two or three females to get the best return. We encourage our
customers to purchase at least one pregnant female and/or a maiden. If they so
choose to buy a herd sire at this time, we encourage them to purchase an
unrelated male that is ready, or about ready, to start his breeding career. This
way the initial cost is generally lower and the purchase price can be made in low
monthly payments. By all means, it doesn't have to be the most expensive one at
the farm, but once you are around these wonderful creatures, you too will
understand and have your own reasoning of why and how you decided to get
into the alpaca business.

We would love for you to enjoy the alpaca experience with us. Please contact us
for more information and to make an appointment so we are able to give you
specialized service. Hope you make plans soon to visit our farm and this
amazing livestock.

As a reminder, each year when the spring crias arrive and I hold them in my
arms for the first time to be weighted, I Thank God for the opportunity of getting
to know the alpaca and giving me the blessing to become part of the alpaca
community.
